Preserving Natural Resources
Thrdugh the changes'in the ways Of making a living in a family over several gen，erations， man has been warned against waste of natural resources and emphasizing the urgent need to preserve these resources.
Ever since man appeared on the earth， man's survival has been heavily relied on nature. Almost everything we use in our everyday life comes fromm'notate， ranging from the food we eat， the water we drink， to the wood which is tm'ned into furniture.With the development of technology and population growth， the amount and range of materials used has increased at an alarming rate.However， natural resources are not inexhaustible. Some reserves are already on the brink of exhaustion and there is no hope of replacing them. The widespread water shortage is an example in point. If man continued to squander natural resources with no thought for the future， the later generations would be in danger. It is up to us to take effective measures before the situation gets out of hand.

The world we live in is becoming more and more intolerable because of environmental destruction. Bird flu and Sars are two typical examples that environmental destruction may threaten our life. Besides， forest destruction， water and air pollution result in decrease of planting land and unpleasant weather.
Serious as the problem seems， we can come up with some measures to deal with it. First of all， the authorities should adopt the policy of"sustainable development"， and laws concerning environmental protection should be put into effect and enforced strictly just as our government has been doing.

The Yangzte River is the longest river in China. And it＇s important and helpful to us Chinese. But these days the Yangtze River is bringing us serious floods.
Many villages were destroyed by floods. The floods made hundreds of millions of people lose their homes, relatives and friends. Many children can＇t go to school as usual.Now the foods have drawn the attention of the whole world. People from abroad have offered their help too. In China, millions of soldiers are busy fighting against the floods. They are working very hard. Many of them have lost their lives in their attempt to save the villagers.
Though we can＇t help them to fight against floods, we should help them to rebuild their homeland. We can present them our pocketmoney and clothes. I believe most of the people will return to their homeland in the near future.
严重的水灾
长江是中国最长的河流。它对我们中国人十分重要。但现在长江给我们带来了严重的水灾。

Water
Water is very important for living things. Without water there can be no life on earth. All animals and plants need water. Man also needs water. Water is found atmosteverywhere. Even in the driest part of the world there is some water in the air. As we all have found out， water may be a solid， or a liquid or a gas.When it isa solid， it may be as hard as brick， When itis a liquid， you can pour it out of a container. When it is a gas， you cannot see or feel it. Although about 70 percent of the earth's surface is covered with water，there are many places in the world still running out of water. So we should make good use of water on earth.

The Importance of Trees
As we all know， trees are very useful. They are of great benefit to man as follows： First， trees provide us with wood and other products； Second， their roots can allow the rain to sink in and keep the soil， so they help to prevent droughts and floods. Trees can clean air and beautiful life.
Unfortunately， nowadays in many parts of the world lots of people fail to realize the importance of trees. They have cut trees down in large numbers without a plan，which makes the soil washed away. They don't know where there no trees， the rain washed away the surface of the soil and this causes floods.
We ought to plant trees each year and carefully look after new trees in order not to make the forest slowly disappear. Only' in this way can we make the forest serve man forever.
保护森林
在我国的一些地区，由于需要木材和得到更多的耕地，许多人一直在砍伐森林中的树木，森林面积正变得越来越小。一些科学家预言二三十年后将不会再有大片的森林，这真的是一件可怕的事情。森林在哪里消失，沙尘暴就在哪里发生，天气会变得炎热而干燥，整个地球会变成一个大沙漠，大量的动植物会消失，没有地方再长庄稼，生活会变得很艰难，人类因为破坏森林的活动将受到惩罚。
